I think that today’s world makes it harder to stand out as a genius, even with more opportunity. Most modern composers with any public name recognition are movie composers, like Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, and John Williams. Absolutely incredible scores without their movies, but are any Mozart level? I bet the Mozart level ones are probably well known in the orchestral world, but none of them are probably very well known outside of it.
And as far as scientists and mathematics, those roles have been pretty much entirely commercialized and corporatized. Even stuff for the public good is largely funded through grants and private investors, so the geniuses are always beholden to others who will take the real credit.
All of the recognized “geniuses” that I can think of are business-savvy grifters like musk and bozos and Zuck, all riding the coattails of the real innovators. Plus, these three specifically, if you look at their vanity projects and shit, they’re all pretty insane.
- Comment on Twitch immediately rescinds its artistic nudity policy 1 year ago:
To be fair Rockstar was really the company that normalized nudity in games. Not that is is normalized, I can only think of a handful of companies that have done it in mainstream games. Cd project red gamed and that Conan exiles or whatever mmo where you get a dick? Honestly can’t think of others.
- Comment on 'Complex' study into potential rock art damage raises concerns as researchers call for more time 1 year ago:
Anyone living on a major road for a long time will notice their walls slightly yellowing from the smog of all the cars. Not nearly as drastic as all those old houses when everyone used to smoke indoors, but it’s not insignificant.
So I can totally see the same thing occurring on rock faces and stuff caused by major industrial emissions.
- Comment on Elon Musk's Tesla recalls two million cars in US over Autopilot defect 1 year ago:
Don’t buy tesla. This dumbass thinks it’s totally fine to run self driving entirely with only cameras. No lidar or heat sensors or anything else. “Eyes are good enough for humans”. Sure, tell that to the tens of thousands killed in car crashes every year.

Also that happened at the very end of ds9, and only when the least ferengi-like ferengi ever became grand nagus, and his advisors were, his non-ferengi wife and his give-no-fucks civil rights leader mother.

It will be full of microtransactions and pay to win and be full of boring filler and collectibles and that will ruin it like that last one they did with the flight suits.

Bad bot linking to pay walls and not posting the article text.
It’s incredibly important to do so because conservative and right-wing media is all free. They don’t paywall anything. This is part of the disinformation brain-drain. The quality, real stuff is locked away but the bullshit is out for display.
Start displaying the real stuff.
- Comment on Starfield's new PC patch delivers the game we should have had at launch - Eurogamer 1 year ago:
Exactly. It was on games pass and it was still the most profitable release Bethesda has ever had. Why put in real effort when you don’t have to?
- Comment on Weird 🤔 1 year ago:
Risa has gotten weird lately. I don’t find the meme as funny anymore. A lot of them just seem like the ‘oh so random’ humor that was funny when I was in middle school.

You are still misinterpreting me. And claiming I’m misinterpreting you as well lol. Of course you still have to shoot your shot lol. Maybe I’d just assumed that was obvious.
I use names because it’s exasperating and frustrating to have a conversation with pessimists that always have an excuse. I get frustrated when people act like shit is supposed to fall in their laps and complain when it doesn’t.
Relationships take work. Finding a relationship does, too. It takes subtelty and nuance.
- Comment on College Students Dump Dating Apps as Bumble CEO Steps Down 1 year ago:
Jesus fuck that’s completely misinterpeting what I said. I said DON’T go trying to hook up. Forget that goal entirely. If all you want is to fuck go to the bunny ranch in Reno.
If you actually want a relationship, a genuine connection, Go to meet FRIENDS. If you’re an actually likeable person people will want to be around you and be with you. But this neckbeard incel attitude is incredibly off-putting, and it makes nobody want to be around you. It’s all self-fulfilling prophecy.

This is about the shittiest incel take I’ve ever seen from an ace. Shame on you.

“Go out and do things you enjoy and develop actual connections” is bad advice?
- Comment on College Students Dump Dating Apps as Bumble CEO Steps Down 1 year ago:
First thing to do is to not use neckbeardy scientific language like ‘find a mate’. It makes me think of the way ferengi say ‘Female’. It comes off as very creepy and lecherous.
Go do things you enjoy doing. Find local groups or hobby/card/game shops with events. Get to know people. Become a known person. And be yourself. Pretending to be anything or anyone you aren’t will always backfire in a real relationship.
The big thing is to never go out with the goal of hooking up or finding someone. It adds an extra layer of weirdness if you do meet someone, and a massive extra disappointment every time you don’t. Just be friendly and casual. Things will fall into place.

One bad person in a system of millions is a bad person, not a failed system. Lol. There are bad people in every profession. Do we get rid of schools because some teachers molest kills? We certainly haven’t gotten rid of cops after all that bullshit lol. You can’t pick and choose, dude. Bad people are bad people and systems certainly need changing, but you are crying major fucking wolf here.

- Comment on Fighting pedophilia at the expense of our privacy: The EU rule that could break the internet 1 year ago:
Absolutely. You don’t have to be a pedo or criminal or whatever to want privacy. We all want at least some level of privacy, and many people have an actual need for it.
I’m American, and we’ve had multiple similar efforts to destroy encryption “to protect the children”
In reality (and this is what they want) it will make it exponentially more dangerous for women needing abortions and LGBT people in dangerous situations. Journalists and confidential informants lose huge levels of the anonymity required to even investigate and report on things.
And don’t even start on the floodgates of espionage government agencies will do.

- Comment on Spider silk is spun by silkworms for the first time, offering a green alternative to synthetic fibers 1 year ago:
What would large-scale production look like? Consumer clothing? Could we get $20 silk shirts eventually? I think most the reason plastic fibers are so prevalent is because their cheap. People would definitely flock to nicer feeling clothing if it was the same price.
