- Comment on Exclusive-Unity Software cutting 25% of staff in ‘company reset’ continuation 10 months ago:
They should fire the CEO who steered them here.
- Comment on TrekMovie.com: Patrick Stewart Reveals New Star Trek Movie Script Featuring Jean-Luc Picard Is In The Works 10 months ago:
S03 was the movie we never got, they just need to leave this one alone. It’s most likely being talked about because Picard S03 got the best ratings of all the new Trek shows. But it was already quite a perfect ending. We don’t need another Picard movie, Trek needs to continue on the small screen with #StarTrekLegacy.
- Comment on ‘Front page of the internet’: how social media’s biggest user protest rocked Reddit 10 months ago:
Reddit had a good run for over a decade, but as always with the internet, now a better thing will take its place.
- Comment on Bethesda confirms they are working on releasing new features you asked for, from city maps, to mod support, to all new ways of traveling next year for Starfield 11 months ago:
It’s nice Bethesda wants to pull a Cyberpunk, but Starfield at it’s core just isn’t as good. I’m all for some redeeming updates though, because at least there would be something to come back to
- Comment on ‘The Gospel’: how Israel uses AI to select bombing targets in Gaza 11 months ago:
A machine learning algorithm is only as good as the data you feed it. flawed or incomplete data just puts out false/biased positives and some systems will always try to output any data that you might accept. So if the approach really was “it’s like a streetlight, when it’s green we bomb”, then that’s really dark skynet stuff. But Imho blaming a machine, just sounds like a bad PR excuse for getting out of a potential crimes against humanity charge in den haag.
- Comment on Microsoft Will Charge for Windows 10 Security Updates in 2025 11 months ago:
German Government is still paying for XP and Win7 Updates, because some software just isn’t available on newer OS’s.
- Comment on The French government doesn't consider WhatsApp, signal or telegram secure enough, replaced by Olvid (Google translate link in post text) 11 months ago:
Well that was the dumbest explanation ever, that’s basically just political pretext to give the government contract to some french company. Potentially there has been some lobbying going on.
Signal doesn’t store it’s encryption/decryotion keys in the cloud, so you would need the devices and then you would still have to decrypt content if the user doesn’t give you access manually.
To crack a 128-bit AES key, it would take 1 billion billion years with a current supercomputer. To crack a 256-bit AES key, it would take 2^255 / 2,117.8 trillion years on average.
So until some amazing quantum computer comes along, this is pretty safe. Fuck Olvid.
- Comment on Plex Users Fear New Feature Will Leak Porn Habits to Their Friends and Family 11 months ago:
They hugely miscalculated, trust was already at its lowest. In Europe this already breaks several GDPR laws. Not to mention child protection laws.
And it’s not just about pron, that’s just a catchier headline. It could be religious, political or in some countries banned movies that gets people in trouble.
- Comment on Plex Users Fear New Feature Will Leak Porn Habits to Their Friends and Family 11 months ago:
Just completely offline with home DNS as IP right? Thie still sucks and i think there needs to be more feedback to the dev forum.
- Comment on Plex Users Fear New Feature Will Leak Porn Habits to Their Friends and Family 11 months ago:
It’s a huge privacy messup and it will make a lot of plexpass users think harder about abandoning plex for jellyfin or Kode.
It also raises the question why any recorded watch-activity is being sent to the cloud at all! The server can save that info locally.
Sure they want a social-media-infested netflix-clone, but that’s not what people use plex for.

Google’s decisions in the time Pichai has been CEO, have been anti-consumer all the way. Not the fun conpany it used to be, now users are beind forced out of adblockers and a products promise is abandoned way too often.
- Comment on Feds subpoena Ticketmaster over egregious concert ticket prices — A spokesperson for Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster, said the firm doesn't “feel comfortable” sharing information with Congress 11 months ago:
Ticketmaster is a mafia. They pressure venues to take unfavorable deals or exclude them for tours completely, if they don’t pay extra. That should be enough for some nice charges. They are not above the law and their prices really are criminal.

- Comment on Microsoft won’t let you close OneDrive on Windows until you explain yourself 1 year ago:
It’s close to malware. I recently helped a friend with his Surface Pro; He had two instances of Onedrive as well as two of Teams running. One with his private Account and one with work & school. There just wasn’t an easy to find quit option for him anymore so everything was constantly running his battery dead and autostarting after rebooting.

AI bad! There’s definitely much worse human made stuff with her likeness on the internet. But there’s more money in suing a company than an individual making 3DHentai at home.

- Comment on So long, small phones 1 year ago:
Asus, Samsung and Sony are still making some very handy phones. Apple and Xiaomi can go suck it. Admittedly those phones tend to be on the premium side, but imo they also last longer…because you don’t drop them as often.
Especially the Sony Experia 5 (I through V) is the perfect balance between an old school width where you can easily hold and use the phone in one hand but also have more space to scroll vertically. Its got a beautiful 21:9 display, so cinematoc content looks dope as well.
- Comment on JK Rowling prefers two years in jail over using correct pronouns 1 year ago:
TLDR; all Britons can say what they want and express themselves freely, unless it breaks any laws or harms another person.
Isn’t this a classic “freedom of speech” vs. “anti-discrimination-laws” case? Unless the laws in the UK change anytime soon, J.K. very well has the right to talk how she pleases in the confines of the law. She also can’t be forced to change her vocabulary and shouldn’t be afraid to be bullied if she doesn’t. Whatever you may think about her, this always has to goes both ways:
Under Article 10 of the Human Rights Act 1998, “everyone has the right to freedom of expression” in the UK. The law goes on to say that this freedom “may be subject to formalities, conditions, restrictions or penalties as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society".
In 2010 the UK also passed a law protecting it’s citizens from “discrimination, harassment and victimization.”
If it could be proven that J.K. harmed somebody by her speech, she could be liable for damages. At that point she could also sue back, having the most likely bigger budget than most people.
- Comment on Here comes another Netflix price hike 1 year ago:
That’s how late-stage-capitalism works. companies just exist to maximize profits, unnecessary scale and release more products. As soon as the innovations stop and the market is cornered by the competition, it’s just maximizing profits until the wheels fall off.
