It’s acceptable. There are too many problems with the death penalty to ever justify it. I’m expecting this person to have a tough time in prison due to what they did, so in some ways this could be worse for them, if retribution rather than rehabilitation is your preference. So long as they are away from society it is a good result.
- Comment on US bans controversial red food dye, decades after scientists raised alarm 2 weeks ago:
Any company with competent or moral leadership should have been phasing this out before it was legislated. The information was available for a long time. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to give short timelines. As you said above though, it’s good news so we can focus on that.

This is terrible advice. Spend for the lifestyle you want, not the lifestyle you have.

It’s a little more complicated than that unfortunately. Supporting bees is much more than just supporting honey bees.

Thanks. I’ll leave it alone and give you an update when I know one way or the other. I really hope it settles back to its best self.

Update on this. There are 3 out of 7 leaves with this sunburn now. I really think the plant is going to die, so I was going to gamble on taking a cutting from the healthy part and letting the rest die.
I really appreciate your help so far. Do you still think the plant will recover if I leave it alone? I’m really disappointed in myself for doing this, the stress of moving during decorating must have been the cause.

I love the way the line breaks fit here. I read this like they drew around the bear to get the perfect shape.

Thank you so much. I wasn’t going to remove the brown leaf, but some healthier ones higher up. I’ll hold off doing that as well though.
I think it must be too much light then, in which case I know where its new home will be for 3-4 hours light. I have to move the plant tomorrow, as there is some decorating taking place.
All other things you say seem to be in order.

- Comment on Campaigners tie baby slings to statues in call for better UK paternity leave 4 months ago:
I thought shared parental leave was a legal minimum? For the uninitiated, that’s where some or all the maternity leave can be given to the paternal parent, meaning there isn’t an inequality.
If they are campaigning for more for both parents, I’m not sure I am on the same page. I can see how this would make me unpopular though.

I’ve had ones so severe I thought my tendons were going to snap, waking me up in the middle of the night and I’m screaming and doing sympathy whines pleading for mercy. I have genuine fear of the bed time calf and/or foot cramp.
- Comment on Liz Truss leaves stage in Beccles as 'lettuce' banner unfurls 5 months ago:
Tried to steamroll through new economic policy that was plain stupid, which the bank of England had to intervene on to stop peoples pensions going broke. This resulted in a huge spike in interest rates that thousands of people are still affected by today. There is much more to it, but thats the short story. Fuck this woman, she should be in prison not flogging books.

This seems too controversial? I’m not American, I just know what a lot you guys are like when it comes to guns.
Is there a reasonable majority of people who would vote for her with this campaign point?

They actually integrate the time limit into the wider experience so so well. It’s really hard to explain, but don’t feel like it’s only a short game with limited scope.
- Comment on Two in five not saving enough in pension for even basic retirement 6 months ago:
I don’t expect to reach retirement age as it will keep increasing. If I do make it that far, I expect having to work so long to get there that I will be pretty much a husk of a human.
That isn’t to say I’m not paying into one, but I probably am in the ‘not adequately saving’ group because I want to enjoy the time I have now as best I can.
The future is terrifying and causes a lot of anxiety…
