Yep. It’s such a nice piece of hardware. And the games hold up to this day. Glad it’s appreciated now.
- Comment on The Sega Dreamcast 1 week ago:
They kinda screwed up the timing with it. Launched when everyone and their mother already had a PS2 and got left in the dust. Was also difficult to get one due to limited supply. People tended to buy one console and stick with it for 5+ years, so the only people standing in line were fans or people with money to burn.
- Comment on The Sega Saturn 1 week ago:
In addition to what others said, due to the architecture it was notoriously hard to develop for. The Playstation dev kits were a dream to work with in comparison. Sega of Japan hedged their bets on 2D remaining king due to the Japanese market preferring arcade ports and slowness to accept change, and slapped on some 3D capabilities almost as an afterthought. Meanwhile Sega of America assumed the US market would scoff at spending 500 on a console when the 32X had just released and was very similar (and also selling poorly).
Sony took risks by pushing 3D hard, were aggressive with pricing, did a ton of marketing, and completely ate Sega’s lunch. Despite the Saturn being arguably more powerful and better made than the PS1, it wasn’t enough to right the ship. And it continued on this downward spiral due to the negative impressions that Sega was dying with the Dreamcast where they again flubbed the launch timing while people were enamored with the N64 and the PS1 had a massive library.
There were lots of other shenanigans involved, I’m skimming the surface here. Regardless, both consoles have some bangers and I recommend trying some out if you ever have the chance. The hardware is also very cool if you can find them cheap but might need refurbed at this age.

Me too. Some development companies refuse to support it period or their games are unavailable to stream due to licensing etc., and that is the only reason I dual boot now. I would ditch it in a heartbeat otherwise.
- Comment on After 114 days of change, Broadcom CEO acknowledges VMware-related “unease” 1 month ago:
Pure damage control lingo. Anyone in the game for a while knows exactly how Broadcom operates. Theyre not hanging around while they squeeze the juice out until it becomes another SAP or Oracle. If he thinks a subscription model isn’t going to cause a mass exodus, he is a fool.
- Comment on YSK: it's not just Tesla, 1/3 of cars in built in the last ten years have passenger/rear windows that are almost impossible to break in an emergency. 1 month ago:
I’ve seen videos of them shattering when a coffee mug or spark plug hits them. Sometimes it takes a couple tries.

- Comment on Amazon hides cheaper items with faster delivery, lawsuit alleges 2 months ago:
This is true. I also noticed certain vendors will sometimes have their own SKU of the “same” product - they’re just a different spec. Asus and MSI laptops are one example.

- Comment on Amazon hides cheaper items with faster delivery, lawsuit alleges 2 months ago:
I use Amazon to find stuff I want or need. Then I look to see if I can buy direct and more often than not it’s close or close enough in price and shipping. Or I look for a specialty retailer like B&H if it’s electronic, Jenson USA for bike parts etc. As a side bonus they usually know how to pack items properly too.

Interesting. I wonder if that has anything to do with why some companies started dumping them for regular TLDs.
- Comment on FLOSS communities right now 2 months ago:
I bought a keyboard kit recently and then discovered all the “documentation” to build it is on Discord. The creator’s last message was that he was working on other things after losing interest, and was not monitoring it anymore. So all the channels are full of messages asking where he is, what the status is, is he coming back, creepy simping, etc. Just put up a wiki on GitHub or something. It’s not that hard.

- Comment on Canada to ban the Flipper Zero to stop surge in car thefts 2 months ago:
…the same reason you don’t see Sony releasing every PS5 with a dev board. Of course you can extend the ESP32 or whatever microcontroller to do anything the Flipper can. That’s obvious. Go search around on GitHub there are thousands of projects you can do with the ESP32 that will have the FBI making a personal visit to your house. The whole point of the Flipper is it’s turnkey and makes it easy for people that are less skilled or don’t have the patience to do all that.

Yeah it’s kinda stupid. But most people don’t know how to solder or do basic repairs.
- Comment on Samsung purposely knives customer's TV to weasel out of repair 2 months ago:
Mouse companies do this too. They ask you to cut the cord and video it usually. Or damage it until it’s completely unusable. Or they completely ignore you until you call them out on a public forum. Lookin at you, Cherry xtrfy 😉

Every time I go to try it. “Tf do all these words mean?” I have no idea what is going on. I need to sit down with a guide or something. But got distracted by ESO and was able to dive in immediately so I guess it’ll be 20 years before I repeat the process.

Yep mine are always floating around in the boxes, dogeared and cosmetically damaged. They can’t even get their original core service right.
- Comment on It’s Surprisingly Easy to Live Without an Amazon Prime Subscription 3 months ago:
It’s a joke unless you need something overnighted or next day and as a bonus - it will usually be improperly packaged and delivered with malice.
Prime Video catalogue is a pale shadow of what it used to be. Exclusives have dwindled. Now they want 3 bucks for no ads on top of paying for Prime? Naw.
Counterfeits are everywhere. That’s what Aliexpress is for (half joking). Frequently have to check the manufacturer’s site when pricing or picture seems dubious.
One delivery driver commandeers our neighbors’ empty driveway, swings the back doors open and blasts shitty pop music at full volume while fumbling through deliveries for 30 minutes every other day.
Buying direct is now often the same price more or less and you can get in a week anyway for negligible shipping price. Or even free shipping if you spend x amount.
So we cancelled too.
- Comment on What are your favorite third party controllers? 3 months ago:
The snes controller was fine as it was but the regular Genesis controller was incredibly balky. So the turbo was a step up until I got the 6-button. Definitely took a lot of time to get used to.

- Comment on Gamecube is the most underrated console while it was in circulation. 4 months ago:
My roommate and I stood in line for it, I remember marveling over how well-made it was. They got everything right. Even the little beeps and boops using the OS itself. You don’t really see that anymore.
