- Comment on Americans: How the hell do you meet new people or get into relationships after college? 5 days ago:
You all realize people commute on bikes all over the world that aren’t bike messengers, hipsters, or obsessive “bike people” right? A bike is a vehicle, not a flag.
- Comment on Americans: How the hell do you meet new people or get into relationships after college? 5 days ago:
Oh jeez, by bike people I meant others that ride a bike. Not necessarily doing nude bike rides or critical mass or identifying as a bike
- Comment on Americans: How the hell do you meet new people or get into relationships after college? 5 days ago:
Sounds like you need a bicycle. Not only do you increase range but you can also meet other bike people.

Haha they just can’t help but try and shove ai into everything. Down our fucking throats

This isn’t new. I heard them say years ago “yeah Sony won the console war but that doesn’t matter” implying cloud gaming
- Comment on Firefox 148 introduces the promised AI kill switch for people who aren't into LLMs 1 week ago:
My typical reason is I need to sound less casual than I am in professional emails. Or I’ll ramble. I don’t copy paste but I’ll write an email in my normal tone, let the llm look at it and then fix it up. I’ve also used it to help me find new books when I’m in a draught. List ones I like and it’ll spit out suggestions. Today I couldn’t figure out a website issue so I copied and pasted the html and it generated a snippet of css for me that fixed the problem.
- Comment on Firefox 148 introduces the promised AI kill switch for people who aren't into LLMs 1 week ago:
I personally don’t HATE ai but I don’t want it in my browser or email or anything like that. I have a local llm I use for random stuff all the time but I don’t need or want a company viewing everything I’m doing, adding buttons in places I’m likely to accidentally push, or training their shit on my dumb behavior. ai has destroyed much of the Internet already to the point that you almost need to use an llm in order to get any useful information during a search. Otherwise you’re just filtering through ai generated webpages with the highest seo possible.
- Comment on Realistcly how much can be cleaned out of a house, as a child of a hourder? 2 weeks ago:
If it’s a quantity issue, rent more cans or a truck to go to the dump/thrift store donation place.
If it’s hard to get rid of stuff, be fearless. If you haven’t utilized an item for 6 months and it’s not sentimental. Get rid of it. (Special exceptions allowed of course).
If you find there is a lot of good stuff you don’t want to get rid of, organize it instead. Plastic bins with covers are great for this. You can label them and store things and find them easily again when needed.

Look at what happened to Mark Kelly for simply suggesting people should disobey illegal orders

Release the controller! Release the controller! Release the controller! Release the controller! Release the controller! Release the controller!
- Comment on We dont talk about what happened to Alex Pretti enough. 3 weeks ago:
I don’t think there enough hours in the day to talk about all the things we should be talking about right now. It’s a constant onslaught of crazy. Do you want to talk about the US bombing boats and killing people in the Caribbean? How about Renae Good? No? We could discuss the Gaza strip or the ongoing war in Ukraine. Oh hey, remember when Trump kidnapped the Venezuelan president? Ai seems like it might doom us all… Do you think anything is going to happen to any of the wealthy folks in the Epstein files? The strategy of everything all at once is very effective. We as people cannot unite about anything because we don’t even have time to focus on one thing. So many victims.

- Comment on Welcoming Discord users amidst the challenge of Age Verification 3 weeks ago:
What client are you using? I set up a space a while back but have no way of putting my channels into categories so it’s all alphabetic and clumsy. It was less than ideal
- Comment on Welcoming Discord users amidst the challenge of Age Verification 3 weeks ago:
Just tried and failed to install cinny flatpak. Something about an error dispatching to Wayland display. The screenshot looks nice though
- Comment on Welcoming Discord users amidst the challenge of Age Verification 3 weeks ago:
Unless the servers can have separate channels and interface like slack or discord then it’s not going to work for most people. Correct me if they have implemented this. I tried using it for quite a while and it was just clumsy. Most people want/need a server with channels that can have categories
- Comment on Discord Users Threaten Exodus Over Age Verification Face Scan Controversy 4 weeks ago:
Matrix is good but not as simple as discord. Lots of users aren’t going to like it.

There are many stops between mint and arch. I’d personally point a new user towards fedora or maybe another Debian distro
