The whole article listing the various uses of flamethrowers, like environmental conservation, then mentioning concerns that flamethrowers can double as weapons is just… I don’t even know what to do with that.
it even lists napalm as an intended use. gonna conserve the hell out of that commie rainforest, I guess?

yeah I’ve really noticed it’s hard to find info and therefore use any project that does this.
and it must suck because anyone new, instead of finding the answer to their question in a forum archive from when it was first asked, has to log in and ask it again.
whenever I have dumb noob questions on setup and I see a discord link I give up a little.

huh I sat next to her on a flight once, she was googling herself and posted an article about herself on twitter, which is how I found out who she was. never switched her phone to flight mode, either.
she also recorded herself singing, and kept typing out affirmations… she was reading what looked like a self help book about magic or something?
it was an odd flight. she was sitting next to me because she swapped so someone could sit with their family though which was nice, it put her in the middle seat. when we landed she was on her phone and went to the wrong baggage carousel, I had to go get her.
I mainly remember because it was so odd and seemed a little anxious, I hope she’s doing well. the affirmations made me think perhaps she was going through a difficult time. she can stop telling me to turn around as soon as it’s safe to do so as well, I know a shortcut.

the whole point of federation is networks being able to connect to each other. it will hopefully be a matter of course in the future.

- Comment on Merge then review 11 months ago:
I just made a github action that merges anything updated in master into feature branches automatically. you get pinged if there’s a conflict but the automerge keeps drift to a minimum so it’s less common and fixed sooner.
better than merging poorly tested/reviewed code.
and yeah, a small team of superstars doesn’t need reviews so much, but most teams have a range of devs with different levels of experience and time working with particular parts of a large codebase. Someone more senior or more expert derisks people picking up tickets and improves code quality.
it also leads to plenty of good conversations about the best way to implement, so overall it’s a win.

as replied elsewhere, yeah I agree that’s insanely irresponsible, but we didn’t know that until now.
- Comment on Children among five killed as car crashes into beer garden in regional Victoria 1 year ago:
agree completely. that’s fucked. I accept it may not have been malicious but it’s crazy irresponsible.
but that detail came out a day after the guy baying for his blood above, my point was if you have no idea what actually happened, focus on having compassion for people affected, not immediately getting a pitchfork and yelling for “justice”.
that kind of justice… well, it usually isn’t justice.

you want to jail everyone who drives an SUV for life?
i mean i fucking hate SUVs and melbourne is absolutely filthy with them - i absolutely think they should have a tax penalty to discourage anyone living there from owning them needlessly, but still - if this is some older farmer who had an unexpected minor stroke and has to wake up to the news he’s killed five people, i’m not going to be standing in the fucking hospital berating him about his choice of car and trying to make him feel like a murderer. that’s absolutely fucking awful.
have some opinions on sensible car regulation, sure, but this is gross. wait until you know what happened before calling for blood for owning a type of car or some shit.

he was sober and apparently unconscious? afaik he hasn’t been interviewed yet while he gets medical treatment.
I mean if he did it on purpose, sure, but dude you have zero idea - it is entirely possible this is a medical event he had no control over, and he now has to live with being the driver in this awful situation.
can’t you just care about the people affected without immediately wanting some completely uninformed revenge?

plus just means more I think, they’re adding to their service so it’s “plus”
just because that’s usually a hook to get you to pay more doesn’t mean that’s now the definition of the word
