- Comment on Is American politics really as seemingly satirical of itself as it is portrayed? 4 weeks ago:
Biden isn’t quite as bad as the soundbites make him seem, but he is slowing down (physically and mentally) in his old age and was just generally an extremely uninspiring candidate. Trump, if anything is worse than you portray. He’s way more senile than Biden, in addition to the blatant corruption, rulebreaking, childishness, and being horrifically and openly racist and sexist. Literally no decent and reasonable person who is paying the slightest attention to what he says and does would think he is remotely qualified for any position of authority. The fact that he is polling roughly evenly with an extremely qualified and intelligent person like Kamala Harris is indeed an absolute clownshow.

Wait, fallout 4 didn’t do the ending slideshow? That’s an iconic part of the series! I’m so glad I stopped buying Bethesda games.

Yes, and the latest version, too. Silly me assuming the version on GoG would be kept up to date…thankfully I didn’t lose too much time.

I’m trying to get into Daggerfall. I probably wouldn’t have got past character creation without a guide, and I died an embarrassing number of times in the intro dungeon, but once I got to town and figured out how to pick up quests things started to come together. We’ll see how far I get.

Yes, the ones here can be set to keep pumping automatically until the tank is full and then stop.

Technically the vegan thing is possible if someone figures out a way to make lab-grown meat work. Definitely more realistic than a non-violent Nazi.

Maybe this isn’t the case in your neighborhood but my local grocery stores have racks of gift cards, including for Steam. I know people who have similar concerns as your dad, so they just buy Steam credit for themselves.

That’s very shocking. All of Elon’s other companies have such a strong reputation for reliable engineering. /s

Wait, they actually made that thing? I assumed the project would be canceled after everyone laughed at the reveal.

I’m playing Starcraft 1 again. We’ll see how far I get this time. I’m not certain I’ve ever finished all the way through Brood War without cheats.

Is this hypothetical artist an Israeli settler in the West Bank? If so, I certainly would not give them my money. Othwrwise, if we’re just talking about some random Israeli then there’s nothing inherently objectionable about that.

Oh, yes, please do. Just put that bullet in the skull of Twitter’s zombified corpse and end its suffering forever.

I guess it makes sense that Dropbox in particular would be cool about this.
- Comment on Net neutrality’s court fate depends on whether broadband is “telecommunications” 1 year ago:
I had the same question, so for anyone who doesn’t want to dig through the article:
To defend its 2017 repeal of net neutrality rules, the Pai FCC argued that broadband isn’t a telecommunications service because Internet providers also offer DNS (Domain Name System) services and caching as part of the broadband package. A judge said the Pai FCC was entitled to deference on this opinion—even if it didn’t make a lot of sense.
Basically, Trump’s lackeys legally altered the classification to screw the American people and the question is whether the Supreme Court will go along with this blatant nonsense.
- Comment on How System Shock's Reboot Wrestles With Adapting Its Legacy 1 year ago:
I’m not quite old enough to have played it on release, but I think you’re right that System Shock was a game with a lot of amazing ideas that was limited by the technology of the day. I was very happy to see such an authentic remake, which was clearly made by people who cared deeply about the source material.

Interesting that you interpret leaning to peek around corners as a modern convenience when it actually was in the original. The portrait in the top left of the original UI shows the player’s current posture.
