They were probably replying to you on mastodon hence the @.

How are these companies able to operate in broad daylight in the EU of all places? I mean the name itself is saying out loud what they do.
- Comment on The Marvels Won't Screen in IMAX Unless Dune 2 Is Delayed 1 year ago:
Oh no…anyway. I absolutely do not want to wait any longer for Dune 2, but if it’s because of the strike, I understand.
- Comment on Alexandrite UI 1 year ago:
Yes it’s primarily a desktop UI. I personally love it on my widescreen and use it as my default frontend for lemmy.
- Comment on where do the instances actually reside? 1 year ago:
You’ll need to have some monitoring in place. Firewall logs, packet capture (i.e. wireshark), security onion, and a bunch of other security logging/monitoring tools. If you’re hosting on the cloud, your provider may have some free tools you can use (i.e. CASB).
- Comment on If my deodorant doesn't work, should I use it more often or switch the brand? 1 year ago:
Another tip is to wipe down your armpits with anti bacterial wet wipes once every few weeks. It kills the bacteria on your skin and resets the biome. You’ll notice you won’t stink for a couple of days afterwards even without using deodorant. And once it comes back, it isn’t as bad or it smells a different way.
- Comment on Spotify now has 220 million paying subscribers 1 year ago:
I release independently and I earned a whopping $43 for 50k+ streams (so far). Sure, 50k isn’t much compared to mainstream artists, but $43 isn’t much either.
- Comment on UI Idea for one-click Lemmy account migration 1 year ago:
I discovered this a couple of days ago: github.com/CMahaff/lasim. It just transfers your subscriptions to your new account in another instance. I don’t really mind not being able to transfer comments for now, but this has been very very helpful when I moved my subscriptions from one of my lemmy.world accounts to another instance because of the recent downtimes.
- Comment on should i leave twitter for mastodon toot.io instance 1 year ago:
Any instance will do, that’s the beauty of federation.

- Comment on How do you all track your car maintenance? 1 year ago:
I wasn’t even aware the dealership I got my car from automatically reported to Carfax until I started receiving reminders for oil changes, inspections, and registration renewals. I just went ahead and created an account and it’s great to have an automatic record there in case I lose my receipts.
- Comment on Did anyone watch The Flash and wanr to discuss? 1 year ago:
I really thought I watched an unfinished version of this movie by mistake. That’s how bad the CGI was. It doesn’t help that the director defended the cgi by saying they did it on purpose because when Barry is moving fast, things will look “distorted” from his perspective. What a laughable excuse. I remember seeing all the very positive reviews from an advanced screening like a month before release. Makes me think all those reviewer testimonies were paid.
Bad CGI aside, the plot was ok but execution was terrible. They made multiverses and time traveling seem so mundane and the viewer doesn’t really feel the weight or the implications of Barry’s actions. The jokes fell flat for me too. As usual, it’s always Batman who comes out as the best thing in these kinds of movies. Batfleck looked so bloated and weird though, and Affleck looked fine out of costume so I don’t know what was going on there.

Oh I didn’t know that! I’ll try it. Thanks for this!
- Comment on DNS providers for privacy & adblocking 1 year ago:
I use Control ID on my router. On my phone (IOS), I use Aha DNS Blitz because it uses a VPN profile instead of an app, so it protects you on any network you’re connected to (home wifi, mobile data, public wifi, etc.).
- Comment on What game feels 'timeless' to you? 1 year ago:
The original Star Craft and Brood War. I grew up playing those games so they have a special place in my memories.
- Comment on How many extensions do you have installed on your Firefox? 1 year ago:
On desktop, I have uBlock Origin, Disconnect, Privacy Badger, Clear-URLs, Decentraleyes, Bitwarden, Multi Account Containers and Facebook container, old.reddit (which I no longer use since I left the site), RES (same with old.reddit). I don’t really use a lot of app-specific extensions and I’m more focused on the general privacy and security ones.
- Comment on Tutanota vs Proton Mail 1 year ago:
Protonmail’s interface and mobile app is more refined and faster than Tutanota’s, and PM has more features on their free tier than what Tutanota provides on their free tier. Having said that, both are great email providers. I have accounts on both but I tend to use PM more at this point in time.
