- Comment on Google looks to be fully shutting down unsupported extensions and ad blockers in Chrome, such as uBlock Origin – which might push some folks to switch to Firefox 1 month ago:
When is this happening? I’ve been telling my wife and kid that they need to stop using chrome for a year, but ublock is still working for them and blocking YouTube ads. They are the type that won’t switch until it becomes a problem for them.

- Comment on YubiKeys are vulnerable to cloning attacks thanks to newly discovered side channel 2 months ago:
Which is why I’m now second guessing why I even bought them to begin with. Any time a security flaw is found I need to spend another $50-60. Seem crazy and wasteful.
- Comment on You Should Show Grave of the Fireflies to Your Kids 2 months ago:
Well shit, a Studio Ghibli movie I haven’t seen. I guess I know what I’m doing this weekend. My wife and 16 year old have already said they are down for it. Not sure if I want my 9 year to sit in on this.

- Comment on USA | RFK Jr. suspends his independent bid to be president — gives support to Trump 2 months ago:
After his call with Trump immediately after the assassination attempt I’m not surprised. They said he straight up asked if he dropped out in support of him, if he could have a cabinet position. The Trump campaign was a little hesitant because of the quid pro quo implication.
- Comment on All Windows users should immediately update their computers. An exploit rated 9.8/10 (CVE-2024-38063) compromises all devices running Windows with an IPv6 address. 2 months ago:

That’s great and all, but you have to remember that your anecdotal evidence may not represent the majority. In this case, enough of the country is noticing a problem.
My teen chooses not to take his phone to school because he knows it’ll distract him. But the stuff he tells me happens at school with phones blows my mind. It’s amazing half of the entire class isn’t failing tremendously.
The county has had to become more lenient on kids’ grades that want to join sports teams because otherwise they wouldn’t have a team, it’s that bad.

Was it ever fixed for PC? Last I heard, it was still a stuttery mess and I just decided to avoid it.

Apparently from what I was reading these are forced updates from Crowdstrike, you don’t have a choice.
- Comment on Complaints about crashing 13th, 14th Gen Intel CPUs now have data to back them up 3 months ago:
How is 12th gen not affected? Isn’t it the same architecture? There were loads of stability issues with 12th gen when it released, though I think most of it may have just been related to DDR5 being new. My 12700k is running pretty stable, but on an old BIOS version. Every time I try upgrading the BIOS it becomes unstable so I just left it on what it is. But I’m open to some vulnerabilities now.
- Comment on It’s never been easier for the cops to break into your phone 3 months ago:
They’re probably just capturing SMS messages or regular calls. Which is still illegal without a warrant, but who watches the watchers? Use encrypted chats and encrypted calls if you’re worried.

This was my first thought. Why is Vangaurd interested in what games I play and how are they doing this when I don’t think they have anything to install on my PC?

- Comment on Owners of a domain, which domain registrar did you choose and why? 7 months ago:
Yup, they don’t mark up prices, they allow you to proxy traffic though them, and they have a WAF that you can set up 5 (I think) firewall rules for your traffic for free.
