- Comment on What mythologies have poor representation in media, in your opinion? 2 weeks ago:
Always cool seeing Yoruba stuff in media. Just watched the new season of the Castlevania spin off and it features a few different pantheons; Aztec, Yoruba, Voodoo, Egyptian. Ogun was badass and loved him telling his story.
- Comment on Why are Google's Assistant(s) so bad nowadays? 3 weeks ago:
I don’t use it often but lately it stopped being able to turn off my flashlight for no reason. Can only turn on. I wonder if it’s just to get people to use Gemini. It’s a shame because I found the normal assistant capable enough for my needs.

I would definitely say so. Personally, I’d just not have one. Let them face the consequences of lack of sleep so they know how important it is. I think it’s weird that sleep schedules are never emphasized to teenagers. Probably a lot less sleep deprived teens if they were encouraged to get all the fun done before night hits and then easing into sleepy time.
But not having a set time could also backfire and they end up like I did with only sleeping like 4 hours but getting naps in whenever possible at school. Always surprises me how good the human body is at adapting.

Space Station 13 will run on anything. The caveat is you’ll have to play an active role in creating the narrative.

I don’t get the people shitting on this. It’s a very fair plan. Something I’ve been wishing existed for the past month, even. Like the article states, it’s for people who use YT to watch TV (me).
I just hope there’s a yearly plan to get a little bit more of a discount. Student plan is the same price but no yearly plan, so it comes to ~$90 per year.
- Comment on It's infinitely worse to be the oldest you'll ever be than the youngest you'll ever be. 4 weeks ago:
I’d be pissed if the oldest I reached was 30. 100? Nah I’d be dandy.
- Comment on At least legalize all the drugs so I can numb my pain. 5 weeks ago:
I find it funny that a lot of cyberpunk settings have rampant (usually legal) drug use because employers want you to perform at any cost but real life is a boring dystopia that demands worker suffering.

Wow that’s awful.

Isn’t asthma medication pretty cheap and long lasting? From what little I know an inhaler can last many months. Also if they can’t afford that, surely they have state medical insurance to help with it? Just seems so scammy.
- Comment on After Years of Struggling To Be Noticed, My Indie Game Was Covered By VICE 1 month ago:
It’s cool you guys allow it. I find banning self-promotion is such a stupid rule for a games community. It’s cool seeing people make games, too!
- Comment on Is there really a difference between my understanding the phrase "go for a walk" and my dog understanding the phrase "go for a walk"? 1 month ago:
I think it’s more you as a person understand that the sentence is that, a sentence. You understand how the sentence is made, why it means what it means, not just what it means.
The dog only understands the what.
Doesn’t mean you still can’t help teach dogs to communicate. Even saw a segment recently on PBS about dogs learning to use buttons that produce words and using them to make short sentences to communicate with their owners.

Wild how this is a controversial comment when Lemmy is supposedly left leaning.

Never been homeless but I’d definitely take it over slavery. It has to be better than being a flesh robot.
Not only is freedom priceless (my opinion), but I’m sure as hell not enriching someone else to my own detriment.
- Comment on In hindsight, "the Xindi attack" was a phase change into a much more hard-boiled season of Enterprise. 2 months ago:
Hell yeah don’t mess with Starfleet bro they took Florida bro it’s just not right.

Funniest shit ever. Someone was just driving it into walls in a hallway that looked abandoned. I took control when it went idle and maneuvered to what looked to be a bathroom. Someone else turned it around and spotted a mirror at floor level.

I’d be saying the same if OP’s son was his daughter. I’d never have guessed them.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
Wow is this me? Same situation, but conflicted because even though I find him an awful person he’s always provided for my family and continues to let me live rent free. We probably interact once a week.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
This is always an option. You don’t have to force it. As a personal example, I love pretty much everyone in my family but I don’t share any of their interests. Just talk with your son and be supportive like how the poster says. Who knows, might find some common interest eventually.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
I can see why you made this post. What a peculiar set of interests. Could probably find some crafts to do with him.

Jesus, found a Black Mirror writer.
- Comment on Apps doing year wrapped gives you a hint on how are you being tracked. There is probably a legal issue there somewhere like data retention. 2 months ago:
Isn’t that just basic data they already kept track of?
- Comment on what was the last game you played in 2024? 2 months ago:
X4. The economy must flow.
- Comment on Longtime buddy of mine just got a gaming PC. What games would make up a good "welcome to PC" care package? 2 months ago:
Gift him a Starsector code or share your own if already have one.
Gift any super moddable games he likes. If he enjoys Bethesda games on consoles, he will definitely love PC only mods. Also explain to him what Big Picture Mode on Steam is. I wish I knew it existed when I started. Get the same console experience and seamless controller integration even if the game doesn’t officially support it.
