Very true. Was just trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.

When you run out of even decent logical arguments you attack the people. This really tells that the industry is afraid of this movement and will use all the dirty tricks they know to oppose it.
- Comment on Anyone use Hetzner Storage Box to backup their Synology NAS? 1 week ago:
Couldn’t be happier with them. They just work and announce ahead of time about any maintenance. Have a storage box from them for backups and a vps for other uses. I do my backups with pika-backup (a borg frontend).

Prices mysteriously go up about a week before prime day sales, then drop to a few dollars below normal, scream “39% off” and you feel like you beat the system.
Gladly this practice is illegal in Finland at lest. Here companies having sales have to show the lowest price of that product within the last 30 days just for this very reason.

Businesses can’t be expected to indefinitely support a piece of technology for free.
Of course not but they themselves announced long ago that win10 will be EOL’d in October 2025. Then later they announced that you can buy extra support for plenty and increasing amounts of money. And now this.
Though even longer ago they announced that win10 will be the last windows ever.

On a related note. Why would creators add sponsored segments/other sponsoring/patreon etc if YT pays them enough?
spoiler
YT doesn’t pay them enough. Unless your some kind of super star.
- Comment on Those YouTube ads everyone hates made $10.4 billion in just three months 5 months ago:
Even youtube doesn’t pay the creators that much. Lois Rossman in a recent video showed some of his video in YT that had > 200k views generated ~100 $ of income.

In the EU this kind of automatic opting-in to marketing/data sharing is against the GDPR as it requires explicit consent from user/customer. I’m in the EU and have those settings but they were both toggled off, as expected.
