Your first layer looks a little high, you shouldn’t be able to see the next layer through it like that. But other than that I think it looks great.

I have it at -1.800 currently, do you have a suggestion for how much lower I should go?
azdle@news.idlestate.org 2 days ago Honestly, it’s been so long since I’ve had to adjust z-height, I don’t have a guess for how far you need to go.
The way I like to do it is to just start a print on something like a cube and play with the live z adjust until it looks nice and smooth. IMO, it’s better to be just a little too high rather than a little too low.

I don’t think I’ve printed anything this crisp in my decade of printing.
That being said my parts are mostly structural so crispness doesn’t matter, but I’m still jealous.

The benchy website has a document about how to evaluate it.

That looks like a Prusa mini? Not much you need to calibrate there, at least in its early life.
rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 day ago
Yea, I got a mini+ the only thing there was to calibrate was the z-axis, but I wasn’t sure if I got it right

That’s really just to make sure your prints stick properly to the bed, honestly. I found that the best way to tune it is by tuning the z-offset (just hold the button during the first layer) while printing a large-ish cube, with the fill angle set horizontally (not in front of a computer at the moment to give you more specifics). It basically is a larger version of what happens at the end of the built-in z-offset calibration.

I love modern 3d printer. Press button and get really good prints first try.
