Posted a query in the LW support channel to see if anyone there has any idea.
I’ve noticed they’re now only coming through over a week later. Upvotes are the same story - I made a post on a Lemmy.world community and it didn’t show as having any upvotes or comments until today
Interestingly, I’ve noticed that in some cases a single thread will have some comments which do show up, and others which don’t, from LW users. In this thread you can see some comments from LW users which I saw and even replied to on the same day, alongside one that didn’t show up for 8 days.
Makes it very perplexing.
aussie.zone is just not keeping up with the amount of activities generated on lemmy.world.
it’s not going lower than a week anymore without actively doing something to improve this situation, and once a week all activities older than a week that haven’t been received from LW yet will be discarded on LWs end.
this is most likely mostly caused by latency from LW (finland) to aussie.zone, as lemmy only sends one activity at a time, requiring a round trip across the world for every single activity activity before sending the next one.
there are a couple things that can cause comments to show up on aussie.zone before they would regularly federate, such as someone searching the post/comment url on aussie.zone. some clients will do this automatically if you click a link to a post/comment from another instance.
I haven’t noticed any issues, but lemmy.world used to have lots of downtime right after the ban of third party apps on Reddit when I switched because too many users went there, they are probably still a bit overloaded.
Oh, have you noticed syncproblems with other instances as well?

I’ve only ever noticed it with LW. There’s a post on !meta@aussie.zone (actually, two posts) about it, as well as an older one on !support@lemmy.nz.
Yeah. This has been happening to me too for quite a while.
It makes me feel bad because someone from LW replies to a post I make and from their PoV I basically just ignore them

All of the lemmy.world communities I follow are showing weird imo. All the posts still appear on my feed but with a single upvote and no comments.
It’s a bit of a shame because a lot of the more active communities I’m subscribed to are lemmy.world ones so it’s not as easy as finding alternatives.

It’s actually gotten to the point where it’s not uncommon for me to specifically navigate to a post on LW just to see if there are comments I’m missing. And if I want to reply, I go in and search for that comment’s URL in the aussie.zone search, which forces it to federate faster.
