@bookstodon In finding the right edition of this book, I am learning that many editions are critical studies. That is all well and good, and they definitely have their place. However, when I am reading a novel for the first time, I'd much prefer just to experience the novel, first, before being exposed to literary criticism of it. I hope I have now found the novel, itself.
