Game timers and I have a love/hate relationship. Used correctly, they add a challenge and focus that you may not otherwise get, and can even improve the story at times. Used incorrectly they cause more headaches than I’d like, and mess with your ability to get things done.

But whole campaign timers are my arch nemesis. I find they often make games much less enjoyable. They frequently screw up the pacing, and making lots of mistakes in the early game can lead to you having to restart either a significant portion of the game (if you have the saves) or the entire game. You kind of have to know how the gameplay and chapters/missions are laid out, so I frequently find myself following guides and walkthroughs as I go more religiously than I’d like. I prefer to use guides to solve a particularly challenging section or puzzle, not be my constant companion.

That’s a mod for me. My anxiety doesn’t respond well to these types of time constraints.

I remember not even being able to play Majora’s Mask back in the day.
