They eat dead rats and rabbits at this size. I think most people feed them rats as they are cheaper and you can get them more easily than other feeders.
I like to think he thawing out his own mice. or toddlers. or whatever these things eat.

Are they good to eat? I only ask because it looks pretty meaty and it’s neck is at Ideal cleaver height.

Ok I was curious so I looked into it. I heard that some ball pythons we have in captivity were originally caught or bred for the meat trade.
Apparently rattlesnake meat is a whole cowboy culture thing and there exist snake tacos.
I don’t think anyone eats Burmese pythons which the one in this photo is either that or reticulated. In China there is snake soup.
Apparently they taste somewhere in between chicken or fish.
I don’t know how I feel about this, other than from an energy standpoint eating predators feels inefficient.

Smaller snakes taste good. So maybe? Probably no fat on it, and fat is where the flavour is
