Seeing how they treat their own shows, cancelling them willy nilly. Really doesn’t give me hope in them getting game series going

I was about to say, this sounds like a classic tax dodge. Start developing a ton of games, drop 8 of them come next year to make the charts look nicer for the shareholders, maybe release 1 game 3 years down the line.

Wait, what?! 😂 Okay, so is this gonna be a cloud based thing, because how stadia was so successfull? Or are these going to be downloaded apps? Or just stand alone choose your own adventure like black mirrors bandersnatch thing.
I'm genuinely so confused what this means or will eventually look like.
PeachMan@lemmy.world 11 months ago
They have games for Android already and you actually download the games; you don’t stream them. Notice that this article doesn’t specify whether these 10 games are for mobile or PC, though…

Orly?! I had no idea! And also... no interest in actually looking into those games or buying Netflix again.
Thanks for the clarification! ♥ 💕

Stadia was successful. Everyone just hated on it for some reason. Didn’t get the playerbase so it was sold off. Was a fantastic service and I curse google daily

didn’t get the playerbase
So it wasn’t successful

I love the folks who just say “ugh shitty mobile games”, but the hook is like Apple Arcade. If my 8 year old wants to play a shitty gem swap game, there are two on Netflix with all mocrotransactions removed. Plus: Into the Breach TMNT Shredder’s Revenge + DLC Dust and Neon The GTA Definitive Games just went live Football Manager 2024 Asphalt Extreme Dead Cells Queens Gambit Chess Before Your Eyes Lego Legacy: Heros Unboxed Reigns Three Kingdoms Bloons TD6
So yeah, there are a bunch of mediocre “cute” games, but also some fun classics like cut the rope or world of goo. The point is, I’m already paying for Netflix, so these games are fun time wasters that won’t gouge me or my kid for gem packs or in game currency. Like Netflix used to be for DVD, it can also be the “last life” for a good PC or console game. I wouldnt pay for Netflix for these, but they’re nice to have while we still do pay for a single screen sub.

Nobody wants this.
scottywh@lemmy.world 11 months ago
I bet they’re all shitty mobile games.
PeachMan@lemmy.world 11 months ago
So…11 games? I hate how press releases like this say “over” a certain number rather than just telling us the actual number.
JoMomma@lemm.ee 11 months ago
Nobody even knows they have games anyways

To get on the way of whatever I’m trying to watch apparently
Pika@sh.itjust.works 11 months ago
Are these 10 mobile games? Last I went on Netflix all they had was mobile garbage.
obinice@lemmy.world 11 months ago
but how do I play the games on my old TV, that’s the only place I watch netflix.
SzethFriendOfNimi@lemmy.world 11 months ago
There’s some you play on iOS already. For example storyteller and Into the Breach. It basically checks that you have a Netflix account and then you can play the game.
Kolanaki@yiffit.net 11 months ago
They have games on Netflix already that you play using your TV remote. They’re basically just choose your own adventure books, but in a TV show/movie format instead of a book.
