A Coroner's Court document said body worn and CCTV footage "indicates" Ms Tafaifa died "following a prolonged period of physical restraint", including "the application of handcuffs and the use of a spit hood".

When prisoners die due to abuse or neglect post trauma etc in these situations, what always confuses me is that the staff don’t check on them purely from a risk mitigation/self preservation perspective.
Like, even if you’re a screw who hates a prisoner and subjecting them to harm makes your day, you still -personally- don’t want to get in the shit if something goes wrong? Doesn’t just avoiding someone dying happening on your watch motivate you to make sure they don’t?

yeah but they get a free paid vacation and for killing people a lot of the time so… these dogs are given a treat every time they shit on the rug and we wonder why the floor is covered in shit

Or they’ve done it so many times and they’ve never killed anyone before, so why would this be the one?
