How high above my baseboards (electric?) should I hang my curtains to avoid a fire hazard?

  If those baseboards are producing a high enough temperature to light the drapes, nothing in your house is safe in any configuration.

  I’ve seen recommendations anywhere from 4" to 10".

  But at the very absolute minimum, they should never be able to touch.
