Will the books be relentlessly interrupted by shitty ads? If so, then no thanks.
The podcasts are bad enough, with their weasel-worded ‘listen to music ad-free’ tagline for premium meaning that on top of the podcasts’ ads, Spotify inserts ads at completely random points. Knowing that most people are listening to podcasts while their hands are busy doing something else

You know what else has 150,000+ audiobooks if you’re in the US? The library. It’s free and Overdrive’s UI is just as good/bad as Spotify’s. Fuck Spotify, the fact that a music app in 2023 doesn’t have a thumbs down button is insane.

Gonna say that this is cool but monopoly of tech and information is not. I will always feel like this is like a strange guy offering candy out of a van. Like I know I shouldn’t but damn I like candy

And you can pay for access to an out of state library for larger systems such as Stark. Brooklyn public library was my go to until they discontinued the offering.
But still there’s so many items to choose for a bargain of a yearly fee.
