Are energy costs soaring? They just dropped VAT on electricity, my bill is dropping quite a bit.

I’ll take solar panels though. Want to see what kind of pricing they come in at. Could even stick some on top of my heat pump.

      Yes, costs are soaring.

When the VAT exemption starts in October, it will last for 6 months. VAT is charged at 5% for domestic customers.

Meanwhile at the same time, the maximum tariff will be increased by 13%

The UK is in the top ten most expensive countries for electricity. As new incentives for the next generation of nuclear power stations kicks in, the price will be even higher.

They’ll be £400-500. Inverters are £100-150 and panels 2 X £100. Then the wiring and Gubbins, smart meter. The legislation is just for panals though, plug in and play batteries aren’t part of this yet. Probs best to go with wa company you know will be compatible with batteries in the future, ie already doing so in Germany

compatibility shouldnt be a factor, they will all work with all unless you are getting some jumped up snake oil apple-style vendor lock-in

Yeah, maybe. But I kinda just want to do full roof solar panels too.

But if these plug in panels could also work for off grid locations then that helps justify it for me. Could get them now for home and then when I get my roof done move them to power my allotment shed.
