I love Doom Bar and I’m not shopping since it’s among the bestselling cask ales in the UK, but it seems that the US owners are going for a quick payout by closing and asset stripping what’s left.
How can one of the most ubiquitous and popular ales in the UK not be financially sustainable? What did they do to that brewery? Lump it with a bunch of debt or something and write it off?

I know several people who work there and I used to live within sight of the building. I remember when Sharps was a small but popular micro-brewery just starting to get national recognition.
I predicted that this would happen as soon as I heard Molson-Coors were moving in. Not quite sure how a business that turns over £16m and makes 100,000 barrels a year is unsustainable. Hopefully someone can buy the site and continue producing.
