Dual UK/US citizen here . . . living in the Scottish highlands. Hate to break it to you mate, but Brits do not think about this. Ever. 1/3 of the countries on earth celebrate their independence day as being independent FROM England. The US just isn’t that special.
4th of july, who will be happy to be independent of whom

I hate to break it to you but it might not be about Britain.
One could understand it as, for Americans it is the day they celebrate their “freedom” and now… are they free? Will they wish for independence of Republican states?

That is a great question,
Easy you would say Caucasian USAns should be from Caucasian Englanders, but look at what each country has become. I who much rather be prefer to have earned our independence from post 1970s’ Denmark, or another Scandinavian Country.
Obviously The Indigenous & Black Peoples of USA are not, the way The Indigenous people were forced by The USA into new form of their nations & The Original Black USAn People stolen/forced from original Black Indigenous Countries.
Every 4th of July ‘Democracy Now’ does an awesome episode on “Where is my” Boack People’s “4th July” speech Federick Douglas.

That was a tough read.
The Douglass speech was “What to the Slave Is the 4th of July?”
