Looking for Recommendation on music player for children's room

Title basically. Right now my son is taking my phone at night and I’m playing him some soothing music to help him sleep. Obviously there are MP3 players that still exist, but looking on Amazon they’re just Android phones without the phone. There has to be something better out there. I don’t mind doing something like a NFS with music that they can then pick the songs and play music in their rooms. I know there are bluetooth speakers, but that only solves the speaker part and not the playing music. So I’m looking for any suggestions.

This may be overkill, but consider a used Squeezebox Radio and setting up Lyrion Music Server on your network. It uses your music library, along with optional web radio and streaming services. You can control any device from any computer in your network. The SB Radio has a great sound, even 15 years later. It has physical buttons so your kids can choose music without phone/computer. You can get a used Radio for like $30-$40 on eBay, and Lyrion is free and open source

I know JBL has wifi enabled bt speakers that would be an all in one. You’d still need your phone to initiate it. But being wifi it should be fine to walk away after starting the stream.

Any assistant (assuming they’re still available) would be able to play music at night (a used Google mini) or similar.

We were building our house when my wife was pregnant, I put ceiling speakers in all the bedrooms so that is what we used. I built a diy whole house audio system which we did use to play sounds/music at night in my kids room.

What is wrong with the mp3 players you’re finding on Amazon? What do you mean by something better? What are you trying to get, and what are you trying to avoid?

  Yeah, without some explanation it’s really hard to say why one of those mp3 players and a Bluetooth speaker isn’t the answer.
