It does not, they detect the VM.
Thanks. This is really crazy level of invasion. They might rather build an authorized device at that level and become hardware manufacturer.

Or 330,000 users without secure boot :P
How thoughtful of them to “apologize” yet keep requiring you voluntary installing a rootkit to your machine to play a video game. Some people are just Too Dumb to Live.
Are people still parroting that secure boot is a rootkit, even though its actually designed to prevent root kits from being installed?
Secure Boot is not the rootkit, the anti-cheat software that requires kernel level access (Secure Boot) to operate is the rootkit.
Yeah it really sucks. The fact they are providing free hosting of persistent servers almost makes me want to buy it but fuck that secure boot shit.

I really don’t understand the aversion to Secure Boot, can somebody share some perspective?
It’s a setting that you toggle in BIOS and is found on virtually every motherboard from the last 12 years. Some platforms are slightly counterintuitive, requiring you the manually switch to custom keys and then back to factory key in order for it to install/activate. For booting alternative OSes, enrolling a custom key takes 5 seconds.
It hardens security of the boot process, and It’s already a requirement for Windows 11, the primary OS that most PC Gamers are already going to be choosing.
I feel like there’s a ton of bitching going on over the most minor of inconveniences that will actually prove to be a net benefit overall.

I do all my gaming on steam deck these days, which means every battlefield except 4 is unplayable. Idk if bf6 would have worked but 2042 did before they turned on their new anti-cheat in an update.

I dual boot.

Why not enroll a key for your second OS?

I’d have a problem as it’s been turned off since my original Windows 10 install. I’d have to reinstall if I enabled it because I installed Windows in BIOS mode. There are ways around all that, but it’s a little risky.

There a particular reason you wanted Legacy / BIOS mode?
MBR2GPT makes the conversion easy and can even be run from the OS while it’s running. We get an image backup first, but we’ve never had to use it. There are occasionally complications getting it to actually run, but those are usually when the disk is full when folks have a really weird nonstandard partition arrangement.
