Just like how they stuck a knife in the Trans-Texas Corridor (after a congo-line of Republican state reps fucked over the project over the last 15 years).
What is it about Americans and the deep, profound, unshakeable impulse to self-sabotage? You dipshits want a fully automated future, then you pull the plug on the fundamental bits and pieces necessary for any of it to work.

Republicans and their corporate owners are much more interested in extracting cash out of the system than creating a healthy and well functioning system.
They also want to make sure the government doesn’t work well so the private sector doesn’t have to compete by creating better functioning products and systems… That would mean more expenditures instead of stock buybacks.
They don’t give a shit about American competitiveness and well being. They sold the US competitiveness in the 90’s to China in exchange for cheaper labor.
