Happy July 3rd, first day of a holiday weekend here in the country FKA* U.S.A.
As mentioned, I plan to read a lot. At the ready:
ANXIETYLAND, a graphic novel I've been waiting for, by the talented Gemma Correll. Super relatable.
RASPUTIN SWIMS THE POTOMAC, an obvious satire that I expect will be fun as long as the author doesn't try too hard (the golden rule of humor) by Ben Fountain
THE EVERLASTING, by the great Alix E. Harrow, who lets her imagination run free, and sweeps us up into a fizzy genre shakeup.
A RUIN, GREAT AND FREE, by Cadwell Turnbull, one of the most underrated authors I know. His use of allegory is so sly that it might slip your grasp at first, so you kind of have to think metaphorically. Also, this is the third book in a trilogy, not a standalone.

*Formerly known as. Also the title of a funny dystopian novel that does not take itself seriously one bit, by Reed King, who is like a version of Jason Pargin, minus the gore.
Also, only two cover images, because the other two were kind of boring.
@kimlockhartga I gave The Everlasting 4 stars. Hope you enjoy it, and your other reads. I also hope that you don't get kept wide awake or burned out of house and home by the weekend of fireworks.
