I was third or fourth grade. We had a TV in the classroom that I remember watching that launch, and the last episode of sesame Street with something on it.
The launch was weird. We saw it, but to me at least, it just happened. Adults were much more concerned. But I did want to be an astronaut according to my old school stuff, so maybe it left more of an impression than I remember now.
