A Canadian scored a hat trick in the Cup final. He just plays for Florida.
Canadians are just too polite

God damn it I’ve been avoiding r/hockey since the loss because I’m salty AF that fucking florida of all states has had such sustained success with the lightning and the panthers being good lately, and the first time I ever see a hockey meme on lemmy is this?
Really?
I’m a Habs fan first but the Oilers are my 2nd team and I fucking hate that the shithole that is florida, where the average person is probably dumber than a 5th grader, gets 4 fucking cups this fast while Canada continues it’s drought since 1993.
At least I can always laugh at the leafs being an eternal embarrassment, so at least I got that going for me.

It’s tragic that Florida won, but the drought continues

There’s still hope for the Habs to end the drought they originally set. If the Oilers can’t do it then hopefully they can! God tier rebuild, everything seems to have panned out extremely well in my (heavily biased) opinion.

Canadian teams just seem to not want to win. With Toronto more concerned with shooting themselves in the foot the moment they reach the playoffs every year; Winnipeg, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa more concerned with cycles of more or less mediocrity; Edmonton who have to rely on 2 players to get them through you’re left with the Habs who can’t seem to get it together for long enough to make a real impact.
Canucks (my team) seem to be preoccupied with one more trade or one more overpaid free agent and we’ll squeak in but when that doesn’t work out they shit the bed again, just like this year and it’s looking worse the next with absolutely nothing in the cupboards (though the Calder cup win makes things look a little better). But we’re about to sabotage the career of the greatest player we’ve ever had because ownership refuses to have a genuine rebuild.
