0% of this needs “gemini” or “ai” crap. This is a simple algorithm that a first year undergrad can do.
YouTube will use Gemini to insert ads around the parts of a video you care about most

(In the voice of Bruce from Family Guy) “ooohh noo!”
Alternatively, insert the “oh no, anyway” meme from Top Gear with some reference to ublock origin.

Isn’t it a bit weird since they already have the technology to see which parts you care about most.
Why do they need to use Gemini instead of just basic data analysis to see where viewership drops at the end of a peak part and insert the ad there?

Oh yeah they do, and they totally can. There’s no AI at all in any of this shit.
Watch, Gemini is what they’re going to just call the algorithm soon. New and improved, “AI powered” algorithm. Just another layer to blame unpopular changes they push through.

They’re trying to legitimize their money burning machine

Gemini isn't a very smart AI, I don't think it could figure out the parts of a video I care about most.
