It’s about to get real in the US. What’s the over/under on the day panic buying starts?

Anyone who is paying attention has already started…

Fortunately, most day to day needs are not shipped from china; TP and foodstuffs. But the darkest part of this is the knock on effects-- tech; hard drives, phones and devices; toys and consumer goods

If they are not being shipped, they don’t need longshoremen to unload-- they don’t need truckers to get them to distribution centers- they don’t need people to work in the stores. And when all those people lose hours or jobs; they can’t spend money at other stores or restaurants…

The USA is a goods and services economy and when you gut goods; no one can afford any services.

We rely on trade and the President has such a bass awkward understanding of economics and is so dogmatic in his refusal to listen

      Yeah we’re fucked.

Anyone in Norway want to adopt me?

And the fun part is that these inbound ships are how the US gets empty containers to be able to export goods to foreign clients and a lot of times the US companies only get paid (or start the clock to get paid) once cargo is loaded to a ship.

There’s a database that tracks empty containers - right now there are an unusually huge number of empty containers in the US, probably from the pre-tariff surge. The US is fine for a while.
