I found that it was the year holy roman emperor Frederick II., him being the grandchild of Barbarossa, died. apparently he managed to modernise the empire a bit and keep it together. After his death though the HRE fractured and couldn’t keep it’s power over the vassals, leading to the later fragmentated state.
