I am a bit torn by this idea. Honestly it could be really beneficial. I think it makes more sense then school uniforms maybe?
But also I had a smartphone in school and while it wasn’t beneficial for learning it didn’t hamper me. Also I liked that freedom.
Nobody had smart phones in schools until literally like 10 years ago and now already kids are acting as if it’s a human right and they would die without them.
No it’s not, and no you won’t. You’ll be fine without a smart phone and do I really need to explain that smartphones are huge distractions?
Relax. Your inability to limit your own smartphone usage isn’t my problem.
Most jobs nowadays have smartphones integrated into the workflow, even entry jobs.
I had a windows mobile 2003 device and used it under my desk in school. That was quite some time ago.
I get it that kids are distracted and have short attention spans. I suggest we try other solutions.

Ask any teacher how they feel about smartphones in their classes. I have teacher friends who work with teenager 15-18 and they are talking about horrible focus and constant distraction. These kids are hooked on their phones like heroin. If the parents don’t feel like educating their kids on proper smartphone etiquette, it’s up to schools again.

Sure we always need more teachers but you can’t combat phone addiction with more teachers. If the students are unable to focus enough to read 3 pages they sure as shit will not be able to focus on two teachers. Just as a reminder these kinds are in their last 4 years of school, all of them are here on their own accord. The Matura is not mandatory. All of these kids want to go to universities. This is education for white collar jobs.

Let’s do both. Yeah, more teachers are needed and yes, smart phones nmust be banned for younger kids, especially in places like schools. Teach them proper and responsible use
