Any big plans for 2025?
The same thing happens every year… I inspect my pudgy form in the new year and embark on a healthy lifestyle regimen. I’m good all year and lose 10ish kilos. Then my birthday arrives mid October and I think “mmm, cakes!” Then from October thru to new year is a wasteland of indulgent eating. Rinse and repeat.

Big one for me, finding a new job. I quit mine 5 weeks ago, just short of 9 years.

What kind of work?

Safety/OHS. I just finished as Melbourne Airport Senior safety adviser. I’ve also done safety in warehouse, transport/logistics, retail supply chain and store operations, aged care facilities.
I love it, but I really want seeing how burned out I was getting. This is the first time since 2010 that I’ve been away from working for more than just a couple of weeks.

I suppose that you couldn’t sit it out for a bit longer so that you could get your LSL?
My previous job was getting a bit toxic towards year 9, but I managed to push through and had plenty of AL and LSL to cash in when I resigned.

I got my LSL, it gets paid out pro-rata. I wouldn’t have been able to make the decision as easily without that for sure.
