For several months I notice weird slowdowns on this instance. I’m pretty sure it’s not my internet since other instances works fine… Anyone else noticed it? First loading of the front page is especially slow for me. It’s about 7 seconds or so. I live quite close to Germany 🤔
time to donate more to milan, to get a bigger cable? ;)

Same here. :( Austria Today it is nearly unusable, on most days it’s just very slow.
I just came back to Lemmy in general and was surprised how slow it was for me. Rather happy I’m not the only one

Yeah, definitely not just you. There’s a thread from 2 months ago discuss.tchncs.de/post/59450718 which I think is the same issue, but I really don’t know.
Really hope they can get to the bottom of this, something’s definitely going wrong somewhere in the chain.
milan@discuss.tchncs.de 1 hour ago Thats about a (potentially) unrelated issue with the web application. I am lucky that i checked as i first discarded the problem due to similar symptoms until somebody told me things are still slow.
At least for this time, it appears some child wrote a bad crawling bot - and i think they knew as they hide behind a vpn. For now things should be better as i did some short term measures and i am trying to better prevent such actions better… hoping for the best.
Its people like this who should donate lol.

I hope it’s not me, I am working an iOS app for Lemmy and been experimenting with network fetching and retrying 😅 my app, Spud, should be identifying itself in User-Agent
thank you for the info but no, there was no helpful identification, the useragent was pretty generic
