These announcements were made at TSMC’s US Technology Symposium earlier this year. The symposium is a roadshow, covering continents and key markets for the company. Just before the EU Symposium, I had a chance to catch up with Dr. Kevin Zhang, SVP and Deputy Co-COO of TSMC for an interview. We covered a wide range of topics, from Kevin’s thoughts on Moore’s Law, to how the market has changed under the weight of AI (also, the activations of AI).

Comment won’t age well when Moores police come knocking on his door.

Lots of conversation around if Moore’s law is still valid in this day and age but it’s held true for decades now.
IIRC Moore himself said it would be obsolete within 10 years back in 2015, but it still seems relevant today. James Powell also calculated it would be obsolete sometime in the 2030s. So there’s still plenty of time ahead if that holds true.

He didn’t say it wasn’t true just that he didn’t care about it, which, as a business leader, is the correct position.
