Need to be ultra careful with press like this, because for state actors, half of trick is keeping people guessing about your capabilities

I doubt the kid did anything special to secure his device…plus it’s samsung.

Even so, all it takes is a passcode or biometric to properly enable a surprising array of security barriers. These devices are usually encrypt by default.
