I live in a place that’s pretty safe for trans people, so it’s not really a life or death issue in my experience. It’s just that trans people typically seek out other trans people and the community tries to make sure everyone is involved. Maybe that’s more of a factor in other places where it’s more dangerous, but not really where I am.
Still, what you and I are describing in more words is just solidarity as I understand it.

My friend, I can tell you that the gun is very much not metaphorical. If you find yourself on the other side of society’s constant messaging and actions towards trans people, without friends, you’re dead.
