those communites can be spending because they are overwhelmingly consist of middle and upper middle class folks.
Poor people typically don’t get to be so experimental with their identities and hobbies. They lack the existential and imaginative freedom that having disposable income provides.

Maybe it’s who you are? But it’s not necessary that way for everyone.
Lots of people experiment with sexual/gender identity in lots of different ways.
