emmanuelw@jlai.lu 13 hours agoPolls show that men aren’t significantly lonelier than women. Poor people are significantly lonelier than others. So loneliness is not something men’s bad “emotional intelligence” cause, it’s something the society imposes.

Right, but if they framed it as “poor people are sad and lonely” no one would care. Half the country would be like “well then they should work harder, grab bootstrap, etc”. But phrase it as a mens issue… hey, now thats something to take seriously.

Do you see people taking it seriously and trying to fix it or just blaming men for their own problems and ignoring it?
It seems like a convenient “oh that’s just men being stupid and mean like always, don’t pay attention to the atomization of your society”

Yeah you’re not wrong but if you’re a lonely poor man, not only you suffer of poorness and loneliness, but the society says that it’s your fault because you don’t open up to people. Even if you’re very emotionally intelligent, you feel like you’re not enough.

i’m a relatively rich man, and everyone tells me i’m a sad loser for not opening up.
but also when I do open up, I’m a sad loser.
also, why am I whining, I should be making more money and getting richer, if I am content with my level of wealth, I’m not a ‘real man’.
