What the deal with EA Play? I see their subscription prices and I’m not doing that. Then below that I see the game for $3.99 CAD. Can I just get the game and not deal with any extra EA stuff?

I don’t know for sure in this case but some EA games require you to use EA Play as a launcher, even if you buy the game through Steam.

  The desktop app is called “EA App” not “EA Play” which is where the confusion is coming from. “EA Play” is the game subscription service that’s like gamepass.

You have to use their launcher, but you don’t have to get any kind of subscription.
