Als long as you don’t define e as the Eulerian number, e is to be treated as a variable.

Yea, but e is almost never used as a variable because it is always assumed to be Euler’s number outside really specific contexts and it’d be bizarre to see it given as a variable without a,b,c, and d.
One important thing in anything math related is to be precise and do not leave room for speculation.
