I was playing worldle and globle today then happened to notice that both the Himalayas and the Iranian plateau are scrunched up masses about the same size. The Iranian plateau is some of the oldest remaining geologic formations on Earth. That got me wondering if an ancient India type subcontinent also struck it hundreds of millions of years ago.
Looking at the Anatolian peninsula, it also looks pretty similar. Is this just the nature of geology in this latitude/region of the planet?

I mean…yes, the Arabian plate smashed into it, the Persian Gulf and Straight of Hormuz are an extension of the Tigris and Euphrates that flooded during sea level rise, but the general thrust of the plates in that region pushed Arabia into Iran about as hard as India is pushing into Tibet
