Comment on Exit poll: Labour to win landslide in general election
AnarchistArtificer@slrpnk.net 2 months agoThere are 650 seats in total. 326 seats are therefore needed for a parliamentary majority. Labour are predicted to get around 410 seats, which would give them a majority of 84 seats (a huge majority). The 170 figure is how many seats they have gained this election. i.e. in 2019, they got 240, I think (410 - 170)
Slight correction. The 170 refers to how many more seats they have compared to everyone else.
410 - (650 - 410) = 170
So 84 of their members could vote against a bill and it would still pass, which is significant. I think? I’m not sure how contentious votes are within party in the UK.
