Why would Russia want to mess with Iran though? They’ve been one of the few countries overtly supplying Russia with weapons.
Comment on What do we know so far about the mysterious crash of the helicopter carrying Iran's president?

Sounds like the crash of the Polish plane a number years back, killing half the government, where Russia was definitely “not” involved.

Russia is by no means the only country that would accident the leader of an unfriendly nation (or any other bothersome individual for that matter).

I mean I hate the shit out of Israel and the US but this ain't it. Israel has nothing at all to gain from doing something like this and turning the figurehead (who doesn't actually present a material loss for Iran) into a martyr. This does everything to weaken opposition to the Irani regime and strengthen said regime and nothing to give Israel an advantage in their conflict with them.

Martyr to who? He’s known as the Butcher of Tehran for a reason. There are plenty of Iranians celebrating.

Martyr to who?
His supporters? I mean he has to have those or the regime would've collapsed long ago.
Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 5 months ago
It’s not like his supporters are the people of Iran.
Anyway, a Turkish drone IDed the crash site finally. Soon we’ll see how many cry and how many celebrate.

There’s no conspiracy. There’s a 30 year old helicopter flying in a mountainous area in pea soup. It was stupidity not conspiracy.

Sure sounds like a situation ripe for a little bit of “outside interference” with a great opportunity for plausible deniability.

Under those weather conditions I doubt it. Two of the three helicopters made it. One did not.
