Customer: I need a battery (for my clock) so I can tell the time
Shopkeeper: is it (the battery) for a clock?
Customer hears, is it four o’clock?
Customer: I don’t know, that’s why I need a battery

Can someone explain this to me?

The man on the left has come in possession of a mysterious artifact. He has theorized it is a clock, but won't know for certain until he purchases and inserts batteries.
Definitely this

“is it for a clock” sounds like “is it 4 o’clock” and since he doesn’t have batteries in his clock he doesn’t know.

Of fuck I’m way too high for this. I thought the clocks were some weird machine and it’s a reference to some movie or shit where the guy tries to fix some machine :D

I thought he needed batteries for a flashlight or something to see the clock and the lack of light meant he didn’t know if the clock was working.
