Sex being the method of reproduction, if we didn’t enjoy it as a species, we wouldn’t be here today.
There are species with painful sex mechanisms, so that bit at least is dubious.

Because it’s an analog to the thing that it is meant to feel like - sex.

There are so many more layers though…exploring your own sexuality on your own can make you more comfortable and confident in your sexuality and in turn make you more likely to successfully reproduce, for one

Yeah, it’s not as complicated as that. You can make some bullshit psychology excuse such as that to try and make yourself feel better about it - but it’s really just as simple as it feels like sex, and we have sex drives for reproduction.
Just look at apes, other primates that do it too – they aren’t doing it to be confident in their sexuality" etc etc. It’s literally just that it feels good.
