Unfortunately, a ton of abusers are really good at getting people trapped in the relationship one way or another before the realization of how abusive they are really sets in. Its less that they think they have to deal with it and more than they can’t get out without risking it getting much worse.
First one isnt a rational thing. If youve ever dealt with depression, you can tell someone theyre valuable all you want, theyll just disagree with you. And of course they know abuse exists. These arent matters that need teaching, they need psychiatric or legal help.
Yes I know you can’t just tell them. If you could just tell them, everyone would know it already because we have that message blasting in every direction all day.
It’s a long process to convince someone that these facts are true, which is why it’s worth talking about how to make that happen.
