ParanoidFactoid@beehaw.org 1 year agoI run Linux and no longer can use Ps or Affinity. And frankly, Affinity is really good and cheap. But it’s not on Linux.
GIMP has some things Krita lacks. For example:
-
Good clone stamp and smudge tools. You’re much better off recreating backgrounds behind cutouts using GIMP and G’MIC over Krita (which has gmic too).
-
Way better Guideline support. One feature in GIMP I use regularly is path guides. Any arbitrary path - like a cutout with the pen tool - can be converted to a guideline with snapping. This is a really useful feature.
But you can’t composite for a finished product.
I have a layers to export PNG script which I use to output everything in a project. Then import to Krita or Blender for composting or animation.
I’d pay for Affinity on Linux though. In a heartbeat.
