Cause some people are psychos. Like I understand if a poor kid has no other means to get out of their situation and thus joins the army. But there are many middle class families with several generations of high ranking service members. These people are just straight up psycho, they have all the inside knowledge of what the military actually does and they still force their kids to join the military academy.

In a country with no universal healthcare it’s a way to get free/cheap healthcare as well as other perks… until you get deployed, then that excuse no longer flies.
